More arrests made for quarantine violations

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has arrested and charged more people for violating the current measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams issued an update today, noting that there have been 31 new arrests.

The breakdown of the arrests are as follows:

Failing to wear a face mask or other face (mouth) covering whilst in public -13 people

Breach of curfew – 6 people

Attending a restricted social event – 6 people

Failing to practice social distancing – 4 people

and Keeping business establishment open when required to be closed – 2 people.

Breaking Belize News joins with the Police Department in reminding the public that the current protocols are in place to protect everyone in the country as COVID-19 does not discriminate. Belize has lost 224 lives to the virus, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
