By Aaron Humes: Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth in the United Kingdom, met earlier today virtually, with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Senator Eamon Courtenay, and CEO Amalia Mai.
Among other things the Ministers discussed the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine rollout and ensurance of fair and equitable access to vaccines, climate change, the future of the Commonwealth, access to development financing and human rights.
Last week, Lord Ahmad appeared as the UK’s representative at a CARICOM-sponsored ‘moment of ambition’ event celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, pledging support for regional countries to tackle their part in slowing down global warming.
