ComPol commends cops’ restraint in Antelope Street brawl

By Aaron Humes: Belize City cops waded into a brawl in the middle of Antelope Street Extension in the Old Capital last Friday – and have taken some heat for appearing to mishandle the women involved.

And while such incidents never look good for anyone involved, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams says it was his men that showed restraint.

The Commissioner told reporters that he and all the men he commands have the greatest respect for women – even, as he added when they do not appear to respect themselves by behaving as shown on the video.

He contends that his officers were attacked by the mob and showed great restraint until he commanded them to withdraw and let the situation cool before making arrests, which was done.
