Spanish Lookout Credit Union introduces new software platform for digital banking services

By Aaron Humes: One of Belize’s unique and premier financial institutions, the Spanish Lookout Credit Union (SLCU), has installed a new platform, known as Universa Premier Digital Core Banking. The new digital platform is developed and installed by Smart Solution and is aimed at enhancing SLCU’s services to its members and putting the Credit Union in a good position to grow digitally. According to a release from Smart Solution posted on EIN News, Smart Solution was able to remotely install and complete the implementation of the new digital platform without any “significant downtime or problems at either end”.

For over 50 years now most of the financial needs of the Spanish Lookout Community was provided by Farmers’ Trading Center (FTC). However as the community grew and businesses expanded there was the need for a more structured institution to provide financial services. This led to the establishment of the Spanish Lookout Credit Union in 2018.

The Spanish Lookout Credit Union now accommodates the financial interests of the expanding light industry and agricultural communities, mostly for the Spanish Lookout area in the Cayo District of Belize. Offering checking, savings, and loans, the SLCU supports a large percentage of both the local businesses and the local farming areas with their financial needs. The Credit Union is currently also looking at enhancing its internet banking and enabling mobile banking for its members and hence the reason for linking up with Smart Solutions to install the Universa Premier Digital Core Banking platform.
