2021’s public and bank holidays

By Aaron Humes: 2020 has but one more holiday left – Monday, December 28, in lieu of today, Saturday, being celebrated as Boxing Day.

In one of his last acts as Minister of National Security, Michael Peyrefitte approved the list of 2021 Public and Bank Holidays under the Holidays Act.

Friday January 1 is New Year’s Day; National Heroes and Benefactors Day will be observed on Monday, March 8 as the day falls on a Tuesday.

The Easter weekend runs from April 2 to 5 (but curiously does not include Easter Sunday itself), while the May holidays are a Saturday (Labour Day) and Monday (Commonwealth Day) respectively.

The Tenth is a Friday and Independence Day is a Tuesday.

Pan American Day will be observed on the Monday before the 12th of October; Garifuna Settlement Day is another Friday and Monday, December 27th next year is once again a holiday in lieu of Boxing Day Sunday.

New Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa’s portfolio likely includes holidays and he would potentially add George Price’s birthday on January 15, among others.
