By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has arrested more than 170 people over the weekend for violating quarantine regulations.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams gave an update this morning, noting that 176 people total were arrested for various offenses which include:
Breach of curfew- 89 people
Failing to wear a face mask or other face (mouth) covering whilst in public- 71 people
Failing to practice social distancing-11 people
Failing to properly wear a face mask or other face (mouth) covering whilst in public-2 persons
Operating a business establishment contrary to the COVID-19 Regulations- 1 person
Entering Belize illegally-1 person
and Selling liquor when restricted to do so-1 person.
Williams maintains that the public needs to cooperate with authorities to fight the spread of COVID-19.
