Guatemalan Armed Forces stop research expedition in Belizean waters

BBN Staff: Guatemalan Armed Forces stopped some Belizeans from carrying out a research expedition in Belizean waters earlier today, reports PGTV.

PGTV’s Wil Maheia, said that the research dive team was headed to the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve when they were stopped by the GAF.

Thus far, there have been no official announcements from the Government of Belize on the issue.

Notably, the situation represents the first time the Briceno administration will have to deal with a Guatemalan incursion as the government in power.
