By BBN Staff: As a part of the national COVID-19 response, the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) started a countrywide mask distribution today.
The MOHW is handing out N95 masks, which provide a higher degree of protection from the virus than cloth masks, to members of the public.
“As we prepare for the new year, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds the public to follow the Public Health advice: continue to wear masks properly at all times in public, stay at least six feet apart from others, and wash and sanitize hands whenever possible,” the MOHW said.
According to the latest data provided by the MOH, 10,724 people have contracted COVID-19 since the pandemic reached Belize back in March, while 242 people have died from complications related to the virus.
BBN joins with the Ministry in urging Belizeans to follow the recommended protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
