City man dies on eve of New Year

By BBN Staff: Police say a man and a woman were targeted on West Street on New Year’s Eve night.

25-year-old Shane Flowers of Taylor’s Alley and 56-year-old Maneera Wilson of West Street were walking in the area just before 7 p.m. when the sound of gunfire rang out as a single attacker let loose.

Flowers was shot several times and fled toward Glynn Street where he collapsed in front of a house, dying almost immediately. Wilson was shot to the body and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Police are presently investigating.
