Minor found dead after reportedly binge drinking

By Aaron Humes: A 14-year-old minor from San Jose Succotz, Cayo District, didn’t live to see the New Year – or his 15th birthday – after being found dead following a night of drinking.

The minor visited the residence of Jose Puc, 28, on New Year’s Eve night and they were drinking together from 9:30 p.m. Puc claimed that he put the minor to sleep in a bedroom and went to sleep himself.

He woke up about seven hours later and on checking on the minor found him motionless.

The minor’s mother said she had last seen him about 10 p.m. the previous night, when he went to use the toilet outside after complaining of stomach pain.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled and police investigations continue.
