Well-known Doctor, Alba Méndez Sosa, dies at 53

By BBN Staff: Belize has lost another member of the medical community as Alba Méndez Sosa, Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, died yesterday at age 53.

Sosa died in Guatemala, after battling with multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system, since 2019.

She is survived by her mother and three children and also leaves behind siblings, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends, and patients to mourn her passing.

Sosa will be laid to rest in Guatemala City today. Following the announcement of her passing, there has been an outpour of condolences over social media, from former patients and those that knew her personally. Sosa had touched many lives and will be remembered fondly for her passion and desire to help patients achieve better health.
