By Aaron Humes: Multiple sources say a Police Mobile Interdiction Team led a search of the Patchakan, Corozal District home of recently resigned Commissioner of Lands and Surveys, Wilbert Vallejos.

Reports say various amounts of Belize, U.S. and Mexican currency were found, but there is no indication of any unlawful activity.

Vallejos resigned on Thursday after 22 years in the Ministry for reasons of health (he recently recovered from a bout of COVID-19) and a willingness to step aside even as he has been scrutinized by the new administration for activities conducted under the last.

Vallejos is proposed to be succeeded by auctioneer and valuation professional Talbert Brackett, who has been active for 25 years and has degrees from Belize Technical College, University of Belize and University of Technology in Jamaica.
