Pope Francis criticizes people going on holiday to avoid COVID-19 lockdowns

By BBN Staff: Pope Francis said on Sunday that he is ‘saddened’ by news reports of people going on holiday to avoid the COVID-19 lockdowns, CNN reports.

The pope says that the people going on holidays forgot to think about those staying at home and the economic problems that many people are facing.

“[They thought] only about going on holiday and having fun. This pained me a lot,” the Pope said.

Countries around the globe are faced with new lockdown measures and travel restrictions due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

About 1.83 million people have died, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.

He urged everyone to commit to care for each other.

In addition, the Pope said that the vaccine must be made available for everyone.
