By BBN Staff: The travel site, Travel Binger, has listed Belize’s Great Blue Hole among the six most novel underwater attractions in the world.
In the article “6 Most Unusual Underwater Attractions On This Planet (That You Can Visit)” which was published today, the Great Blue Hole is ranked sixth overall.
“Blue holes are circular, steep-walled depressions or, large sinkholes in the middle of the ocean, which makes them amazing to look at. Blue holes were created in the Ice Ages when sea levels were lower and slightly acidic rainwater dissolved the carbonate bedrock, forming the sinkhole we see today. It’s a fascinating underwater attraction, also thrilling when observed from an aerial view,” Travel Binger said.
The other entrants on the list are the Champagne Reef, Dominica; the Underwater Post Office, Vanuatu; the Bioluminescent Bay, Puerto Rico; the Road to Atlantis, Bimini, Bahamas; and the Jellyfish Lake, Palau.
The positive mention is just one in an increasing number for Belize and is critical in helping attract tourists to the country as a part of the ongoing efforts to rebuild the tourism industry.
