Caribbean sees over 5,800 new COVID-19 cases in two days

By BBN Staff: The Caribbean has seen more than 5,800 new cases of COVID-19 in two days, according to data gathered by the regional media outlet Loop.

Loop’s latest COVID-19 count for the Caribbean for today, January 7, 2021, shows a difference of 5,869, when compared to the report issued on January 5.

The regional total for COVID-19 currently stands at 373,773.

The breakdown by country for infections, deaths, and recoveries from COVID-19 are is as follows:

Dominican Republic- 176,378 cases, 2419 deaths, 134,932 recoveries;

Puerto Rico- 74,756 cases, 1570 deaths;

French Guiana- 13,497 cases, 72 deaths, 9995 recovered;

Jamaica- 13,330 cases, 306 deaths, 11,182 recovered;

Cuba- 12,964 cases, 147 deaths, 11,036 recovered;

Belize- 11,018 cases, 258 deaths, 10,230 recovered;

Haiti- 10,127 cases, 236 deaths, 8672 recovered;

Guadeloupe- 8776 cases, 154 deaths, 2242 recovered;

Bahamas- 7928 cases, 175 deaths, 6260 recovered;

Trinidad and Tobago- 7186 cases, 127 deaths, 6735 recovered;

Suriname- 6586 cases, 125 deaths, 5967 recovered;

Guyana- 6407 cases, 166 deaths, 5948 recovered;

Martinique- 6091 cases, 43 deaths, 98 recovered;

Aruba- 5716 cases, 50 deaths, 5237 recovered;

Curacao- 4342 cases, 16 deaths, 3320 recovered;

US Virgin Islands- 2083 cases, 24 deaths, 1955 recovered;
