By BBN Staff: Another seven Belizeans have died from complications related to COVID-19, and the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) is pleading with Belizeans to follow the protocols established to stop the spread of the virus and prevent any more deaths.

The MOHW’s latest COVID-19 report shows that the seven newly confirmed deaths bring the national total to 267, and the fatality rate to 2.39.

The Ministry is calling on Belizeans to frequently wash and sanitize their hands, wear masks properly, maintain physical distancing, only leaving home for essential purposes, and avoid social gatherings.

“The Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds the general public to follow the Public Health advice and adhere to the Isolation/Quarantine guidelines if you test positive,” the Ministry added.” If you have difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or chest pain, seek medical attention immediately. ”

A total of 13 people have died from COVID-19 in the first seven days of January.
