Global COVID-19 infections up more than 5 million in a week, more than 90 million cases worldwide

By BBN Staff: Worldometer is reporting that the global count for COVID-19 infections is over 90 million as of 8:00 a.m. today, Sunday, January 10, 2021, an increase of more than 5 million in the span of a week.

The latest COVID-19 statistics show that the global count stands at 90,184,719 confirmed infections. Of the total, there are still over 23.55 million active cases, with 108,486 (0.5 percent) listed as serious/critical.

There have been 64,584,418 recoveries and over 1.93 million deaths associated with the virus.

The United States, which is the hardest-hit country in the world by the pandemic, has confirmed over 22.7 million infections and 381,497 deaths.

India, the second hardest-hit country in the world by number of infections, has seen over 10.45 million confirmed cases and 151,070 deaths.

Brazil, the third hardest-hit country in the world by number of infections, has over 8.07 million confirmed cases. However, it remains the second hardest-hit by way of deaths relating to COVID-19, with a total of 202,657 deaths.

Meanwhile, Belize has seen 11,266 confirmed cases with 271 deaths related to the virus.
