Police still investigating human remains at Black Rock

Posted: Tuesday, January 12, 2021. 3:58 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The poor, unfortunate soul whose earthly remains were found Saturday morning on Black Road Road near the banks of the Macal River has yet to be identified.

But police believe it is not Miguel Caceros, reported missing since January first.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch, explained: “Sometime around 9:30 a.m., police were called to an area on the Black Rock Road in the Cayo District where somewhere near the Macal River some twenty-five feet away, the skeletal remains of seemingly a male person were found.  The scene was processed and the remains were transported to the medical lab where it is awaiting a post mortem examination.”

He added, “The remains from the investigation seem to have been out there for some time and we do believe that it was the floodwaters some two months ago that had brought it onshore where it was found.”

The bones were not found entirely in one place, suggesting animals may have disturbed the remains before they were found, but from what was found, there were no signs presented of physical injury.
