More than 1.9 million COVID-19 deaths worldwide

By BBN Staff: As the COVID-19 pandemic goes into its second year, around the world over 1.9 million people have lost their lives, statistics from Worldometer suggests.

The latest COVID-19 tally noted that global deaths stood at 1,973,996.

Global infections had climbed to 92 million, with the number of currently active cases going up to 24,204,437. Of the reactive cases, 110,131 (around 0.5 percent) are listed as being in either serious or critical condition.

Meanwhile, over 65 million people have recovered from the virus.

The US has over 23 million cases with more than 390,000 Americans losing their lives to the virus.

 India has recorded more than 10.4 million cases and 151,577 deaths; and Brazil 8.1  million cases 204,726 deaths.

Belize has recorded around 11,366 cases along with 277 deaths. To date, 587 cases remain active.
