By BBN Staff: A Punta Gorda family is mourning the death of its youngest member. Two-year-old Leroy Choc, of San Miguel Village, drowned in a toilet pit over the weekend.
Police say that, on Sunday, Choc’s family was in the kitchen and left to investigate the sighting of an animal at a house located in their yard. While there, they realized baby Leroy was not with them.
They found him floating face down in the pit and tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. Police also said that there were no obvious signs of injury on the child.
Choc’s body was taken to the Punta Gorda Hospital for a postmortem examination, the results of which are still pending.
Police investigations continue.
