Belize and Costa Rica prepare for new measures announced by CDC

covid19 test

Posted: Thursday, January 14, 2021. 9:57 am CST.

By BBN Staff: On Wednesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced that all passengers arriving in the U.S. will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test.

The measure becomes effective on January 26.

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) informed that after consultation with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, testing will be expanded and made available to all passengers departing Belize for the US.

Other details will be shared later on, the BTB said.

The BTB says that US travelers account for approximately 70% of visitors to the country.

In Costa Rica, the plan is to make the tests available to US travelers and tourists of other nationalities throughout the country, for less than $100 each.

International arrivals to Costa Rica doubled from November to December 2020.
