COVID-19 data as of today, January 14, 2021, puts the number of global deaths at 1,993,471.
Global infections stood at 93,107,746, as of 112:30 p.m., while over 66 million people have managed to recover from the virus.
The discovery of a new, more contagious strain of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom, now designated B117, is expected to have an impact on infection numbers in the coming weeks.
The B117 strain has been detected in the Caribbean and Central America.
