Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation: No projects approved for Cayo Rosario

Posted: Thursday, January 14, 2021. 3:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Andre Perez, says that his Ministry has not given approval for any project on Cayo Rosario or any other development project at this time.

Perez issued a statement today, clarifying the ministry’s position in the area following accusations made via social media, which he said was issued from a fake profile.

“In accordance with its mandate, the Ministry is carrying out its due diligence in familiarizing itself with existing opportunities for economic gain for the islands of San Pedro and Caye Caulker and the entire country by extension,” Perez said.

Perez went on to say that the Ministry will go about evaluating projects guided by the principles of environmental responsibility, inclusivity, and fairness to all involved.
