Belize commemorates first George Price Day!

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Belize is commemorating the first ever, George Price Day.

January 15th was chosen in honor of Price’s birthday.

A wreath laying ceremony will be held this morning at the Lord Ridge cemetery.

The new national holiday was announced by the Briceno administration and is meant to celebrate the life, accomplishments and history of Price and the struggle for Belize’s Independence.

Price was Belize’s first Premier and those who served with him, remember him most for his humility and service to the people.
