Youth Development budget to triple as preparations begin

By Aaron Humes: The national budget is due for March, but one sector guaranteed to see an increase is youth development, sports and e-governance.

From $4 million previously, the sector will get $12 million to spend in the coming fiscal year with the possibility of an annual increase, the Department of Youth Services announced as it reported on the results of a meeting among financial officers, CEO, and head directors to address the 2021-2022 budget planning.

A statement says, “the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that the various bodies of the Ministry are integrated to effectively serve in the development of youth, sports and e-governance. Strategies were formulated and crosscutting institutional linkages were laid out for the establishment of an in-depth budget to capacitate youth across Belize.”
