By BBN Staff: On Thursday, Minister of Natural Resources, Cordel Hyde hosted the first mobile land outreach in Dangriga.
Residents lined up to discuss their concerns and land issues with personnel from the Ministry.
Hyde is on a quest to change the tarnished reputation of the lands department that was tainted for corrupt land deals under the previous administration.
While an investigation is ongoing into the alleged illegal land deals under the UDP, Hyde says that changing the culture at the department is not going to be easy.
“But we made it clear to all the people who were at the lands department from top to the bottom that we are about going in a different direction and that’s gonna mean that we are going to part ways with some people; that’s gonna mean that we are going to bring in some more people who are committed to the things that we are committed to and want to do the things that we want to do. Changing the culture is not going to be easy,” Hyde said.
Hyde says that moving into the right direction means making changes at the Lands Department.
