By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the actions of 2 former clerks of the Ministry of Labor, Local Government, and Rural Development for “theft” of Government funds.

It is alleged that sometime between June 2019 and June 2020, a total of $35,787.56 property of the Government of Belize went missing.

The money was reportedly diverted from the Government’s smart stream system and sent into personal accounts including those of the clerks.

The clerks, Emany Sanchez and Steve Murray have been charged with 15 counts of theft.

The investigation continues.
