Travelers destined for U.S.A will be able to take COVID-19 tests at Central Medical Region

Posted: Tuesday, January 19, 2021. 11:58 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The U.S. Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) updated its entry requirements for those seeking to enter the USA.

The CDC says that all air passengers are required to get a viral test (a test for current infection) within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs, and provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19.

CDC notes that airlines must confirm the negative test result for all passengers or documentation of recovery before they board.

If a passenger does not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery, or chooses not to take a test, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger.

These measures go into effect on January 26, 2021.

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) had notified that in response to the new requirement, testing will be expanded and made available to all passengers departing Belize for the U.S.

BBN can confirm that a decision has been made for testing for those departing Belize to be done at the Central medical region.

The BTB advised that all individuals who plan to visit Belize can therefore proceed with their travel plans.

Costs of testing for those departing Belize is yet to be announced.
