Belize Tourism Board warns of imposters

By BBN Staff: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) issued a statement warning the public of individuals claiming to be BTB employees.

BTB says that the individuals are requesting licenses and other documents from tourism businesses seeking Gold Standard Certification.

The BTB says that only BTB staff members are authorized to inspect tourism businesses in relation to the approval of Gold Standard Certification and other BTB licenses.

“The BTB encourages the public to request that a BTB identification card be presented from individuals who purport to be BTB employees and an official BTB letter be presented from anyone claiming to do business on our behalf,” the statement expressed.

Anyone with information of those impersonating BTB staff members can report it to 227-2420.
