Emerging in Belize rolls out COVID-19 testing in Placencia

By BBN Staff: Emerging in Belize, a company offering products and services geared towards helping the country survive the “new normal” in the advent of the pandemic, is bringing COVID-19 rapid testing to Placencia.

Beginning January 26th, Emerging in Belize will be offering rapid antigen testing at its office, located just 200 meters from the Placencia airstrip. Test results can be ready in as little as two hours and negative tests come with a certificate of good health.

“The testing we’re doing is primarily for people who are traveling. People leaving the country and need a negative test to get back into the United States, or Canada, or where ever they are going,” a company representative explained.

The company rep went on to say that with the primary focus of providing the service to outbound travelers, the service will not conflict with the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, setting up a testing site on the peninsula.

Those needing a test can book an appointment by calling Mariposa Resort at 523-4474. Walk-ins will be addressed on an individual basis but appointments are preferred.
