By Aaron Humes: Belizean-American Glenford Anthony Gentle, III, 18, is the newest member of the National Under-19 football selection.
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) introduced the young striker, originally from Dangriga, Stann Creek District, this week.
Gentle III is son of former national team player Glenford A. Gentle Jr. and Ericka Vanessa Ruiz, now residents of New York City.
The younger Gentle is a member of the Kickers Junior Soccer Club U-19 selection, which won its division in the Long Island Junior Soccer League in November, 2020.
He also led his Martin Van Buren High School varsity football team in his sophomore and junior years (equivalent to Second and Third Form here), with a total of 25 goals scored and 13 assists. He now also plays for Albertson Susa Academy in Long Island, New York and will be participating in the upcoming Elite Club National League (ECNL) in March.
Through the Federation, Glenford shared that he is grateful to be a part of the FFB U19 National team and is excited to see what the future has in store for him.
