By Aaron Humes: Who’s going to “eat” from COVID-19 testing? Leader of the Opposition Patrick Faber’s “inquiring mind” wants to know, after revealing yesterday that “games have already begun” with the recent dictate of the Government that it alone will approve importation and administration of COVID-19 tests.
Faber claimed some credit for the UDP on the recent reduction in active cases, saying at his press briefing that “Everything they have done pretty much copied or continued works began by the United Democratic Party and that includes the rolling out of these tests, rapid tests that have been done and procured from the time the U.D.P. was there.”
He went on to note that the Government’s control over testing “is not necessarily a bad thing,” unless corruption becomes involved, which he believes is already happening.
“I am reliably informed in fact the games have already begun where only friends and cronies are allowed to import the test so these tests can be administered across the country through certain institutions. Those details are still coming to me and once we get them, well it doesn’t seem to matter. It is now very evident that the People’s United Party as my colleague the Honorable Tracey Taegar Panton in the last House meeting went to great pains to point out this party is about nepotistic opportunities. It abides abounds freely. Apparently, everybody’s friend, brother, sister, aunt, uncle is able to benefit and when it comes down to the basic, there is not enough for everyone,” Faber said.
The PCR and rapid antigen tests remain the most effective used by the Ministry and for now can be obtained at your local health clinic or regional hospital and through designated clinics set up periodically.
