Posted: Friday, January 22, 2021. 6:37 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: In a show of friendship between countries, the Government of Panama supported Belize’s fight against coronavirus global pandemic today, by making a donation of Azithromycin 500mg, one of the medications issued by the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) to help treat COVID-19 patients.

The Ambassador of Panama to Belize, H.E. Marta Boza handed over 13,000 units of Azithromycin 500mg, at a brief ceremony at the MOHW’s Vaccine Room in Belmopan this morning.

Health Minister Michel Chebat was on site to receive the donation, while Acting Director of Health Services, Dr. Melissa Diaz Musa presented a token of appreciation to Ambassador Boza.

The support comes at a time when some 11,676 Belizeans have contracted COVID-19, and 289 people have died from it, according to the Ministry’s data.
