By BBN Staff: Belize Water Services (BWS) issued a statement informing the public that an individual is posing as a BWS employee to gain access to resident’s homes on the Placencia Peninsula.
BWS reminds the public that all employees wear marked clothing and drive vehicles that are clearly marked with the BWS logo.
Employees of BWS also have photo identification badges and are instructed to display them at all times.
“We encourage customers to ask for identification from anyone who comes to your door. Residents should be cautious of anyone claiming to come from BWS without an appointment because visits are planned ahead of time with customers. The only exception is during an emergency, such as a water main break,” BWS noted.
Anyone wishing to report on imposters can call BWS’ hotline at 0-800-CALL-BWS (0-800-225-5297) or the Police at 911 to report any such incident.
