By BBN Staff: The number of COVID-19 infections reported globally is approaching 100 million, according to the latest data by Worldometer.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 24, the number of reported global infections stood at 99,416,374. Of the total, there are still over 25.7 million active cases, with 110,722 (0.4 percent) listed as serious/critical.
There have been 71,487,208 recoveries and over 2,132,164 deaths associated with the virus.
The United States, which is the hardest-hit country in the world by the pandemic, has confirmed over 25.56 million infections and 427,637 deaths.
India, the second hardest-hit country in the world by the number of infections, has seen over 10.65 million confirmed cases and 153,433 deaths.
Brazil, the third hardest-hit country in the world by the number of infections, has over 8.8 million confirmed cases. However, it remains the second hardest-hit by way of deaths relating to COVID-19, with a total of 216,475 deaths.
Meanwhile, Belize has seen 11,722 confirmed cases with 290 deaths related to the virus.
