By BBN Staff: Today, Dr. Candice Pitts clarified that she will not be running in the upcoming Municipal Elections, scheduled for March.

Pitts issued a statement this evening, noting that there is a social media post in circulation, where her name is listed on the roster alongside other People’s United Party Belize City Councilor Candidates.

“However, due to my other national assignment and commitment, I will not contest the upcoming municipal elections,” Pitts said. “I take this opportunity to thank the residents of Belize City for their support over the past three years, and I wish all the candidates all the best in their bid for electoral office.”

Pitts added that she continues to share the work she is doing, as her service to Belize did not begin with becoming a city councilor and has not come to an end even though she is not contesting the post.
