Belize Territorial Volunteers endorses Greg Choc as Indigenous Affairs Commissioner

Posted: Thursday, January 28, 2021. 2:06 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today the Belize Territorial Volunteers publicly expressed its support for the Government of Belize’s decision to appoint attorney-at-law Gregory Ch’oc as the Commissioner of Indigenous Affairs.

“We note that Mr. Ch’oc was an active director of Sarstoon Temash Institute for Indigenous Management (SATIIM) and an experienced representative of the south’s indigenous people.  As such, we at the BTV feel that with Greg at the helm, the indigenous lands will be safe from uncontrolled development; we also believe that the lands along the borders will be better monitored,” the BTV said.

The BTV, which is known for its strong advocacy for Belize’s territorial integrity, also congratulated Choc on his appointment and wished him well as he takes on his new role.
