By BBN Staff: The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has seen a decrease in January.

Yesterday, of the 270 tests conducted, 28 new cases were identified. There are now 286 active cases of COVID-19.

In an interview with News 5, Prime Minister John Briceno indicated that new regulations for relaxing the inter-district travel ban in Corozal and Orange Walk will be announced.

The PM said that the Government’s COVID-19 response has been to follow the science.

“As we said we are going to follow the science and that is exactly what we have been doing and doing everything to control the spread of COVID. Now more than ever, we have to be able to walk that thin line, controlling COVID but at the same time addressing the issues of the economy where people,” Briceno said.

The restrictions are not being dismissed, but will be relaxed, he explained.
