Mexico’s new daily record of almost 28,000 COVID-19 cases

By BBN Staff: On Wednesday, Mexico recorded its highest 1-day total of confirmed COVID-19 cases with 27,944 cases and 1,623 deaths, The Associated Press reports.

The total confirmed cases is now at 1.8 million and 153,639 deaths.

The Mexican president has opposed the mandatory use of face masks but medical experts continue to recommend that the measure be implemented.

Over the weekend, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador tested positive for COVID-19.

Families in Mexico are now opting to treat their relatives at home due to the hospitals being filled.
