Minister of Agriculture Jose Mai and technical team tours the south

By BBN Staff: Minister of Agriculture, Jose Abelardo Mai, and his senior team in the Ministry of Agriculture continues their nationwide tour with a visit to the Toledo and the Stann Creek districts this week.

This tour is taking place on the 28th and 29th of January, with the first day focused on meeting the district staff and touring the facilities at the Toledo Agricultural Station; meeting with the Toledo Cacao Growers Association (TCGA) to discuss cacao production and pricing; visiting Herson Blandon’s diversified vegetable farm; and visiting Naledo Belize Ltd., with its General Manager, Umeeda Umedaly Switlo. Naledo Belize Ltd operates a novel and successful Turmeric production and processing operation in the Toledo district.

On day two, Friday January 29th, Minister Mai and his team will visit a seed production farm in Silver Creek village. Later in the day the team will visit the rice mill at Big Falls and wrap up the tour with a visit to Aquamar and BelEuro shrimp farms and meeting with Alvin Henderson of the Shrimp Growers Association.
