Six held in overnight drug bust outside Crooked Tree

By Aaron Humes: Police sources have confirmed a significant drug bust that occurred early this morning in the Belize District.

Law enforcement authorities are said to have recovered a huge quantity of the landed drugs from a boat in the vicinity of Lamanai, Orange Walk District but are looking for more.

As many as six persons have been held concerning the incident, we understand.

The plane apparently landed between late Thursday night and early this morning, Friday, west of Crooked Tree near the District Boundaries of Belize and Orange Walk.

Among the men held are said to be Belizean law enforcement personnel; Mexican narcos are also believed to be involved but may have escaped.

This is the first landing for some time as authorities’ eagle-eyed watch of plane tracks and potential landing sites have so far denied the traffickers.
