Allan Pollard leads poll as incumbent PUP select City Council candidates

By Aaron Humes: Former People’s United Party standard bearer for Queen Square Allan Pollard has topped the poll of aspirants for the Belize City Council following a convention held today.

Pollard took 630 votes, followed by Micah Goodin on 550, Kaya Cattouse on 547, Javier Castellanos, 504; Edmund Kwan, 416; Deannie Requena, 401; Natasha Pipersburgh, 382; Albert Vaughan, 377; Michael Novelo, 362; and Stephanne Michelle, 324.

Joining Oscar Arnold and Candice Pitts on the sidelines are incumbents Delthrude Hylton and Aisha Gentle.

Other notables missing the cut are Joseph Stamp Romero on 302 votes and Moses Sulph on 117.

Incumbent Mayor Bernard Wagner was not challenged and leads the charge toward a second term for the PUP at City Hall, something they have not achieved since the late David Fonseca was unseated by Zenaida Moya and the UDP in 2006.

Elections will be held in March.
