U.S. Embassy’s Youth in Focus spotlight is Albert Clother

Posted: Saturday, January 30, 2021. 2:09 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Every month, the United States Embassy in Belize highlights outstanding Belizeans.

For January, the Embassy is putting the Youth Focus Spotlight on Albert Clother.

Albert joined the Empowering Communities to Empower Themselves (ECTET) Initiative in March of 2020 which was created with the goal of endorsing entrepreneurial and vocational training to create alternatives to gang-related activities.

Being a part of the initiative gave Albert and other members of the initiative the chance to share their stories as well as aiding him in opening the business St. Martins One Stop Auto Repair in December of 2020.

Albert has previously done mechanic work in other shops and was excited to run his own shop while empowering others.

The objective of the auto repair business is to unite the community and show the youth of the community that instead of participating in criminal activities, they can learn a trade and seek alternative legal and positive means to make money and be responsible.

Albert, in addition to managing the business, provides advice to those who need it as well as keeping up morale.

Despite running into various difficulties, including a shooting on December 19, Albert and his team are determined to grow the business in order to reach more clientele and give talented individuals the chance to succeed.

Albert would also like to spread that message that people can make a positive difference if given the opportunity to do so.
