By BBN Staff: The chief official from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention informed today that new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the United States are down in recent weeks, but 3 mutations have been detected, the Jamaica Observer reports.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky said that most US cases of coronavirus mutations, or variants, involve the strain first detected in the United Kingdom.
And in addition, 3 cases involving a mutation detected in South Africa have been confirmed.
One case was detected with a strain first found in Brazil.
Walensky urged Americans to get vaccinated as soon as they can.
