Dr. Catherine Wade receives outstanding dissertation award from the National Association for Professional Development Schools

By BBN Staff: The National Association for Professional Development Schools (NAPDS) announced its honorees for the Exemplary PDS Achievement Award and the Outstanding Dissertation Award on January 9.

 Belizean educator, Dr. Catherine Wade was awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award.

Dr. Wade successfully defended her dissertation titled, An Application and Exploration of a Participatory Process to Examine Educator Perspectives of the Most Important Elements Currently Focused on by Their Profession Development School Partnership, in March 2020. She successfully defended her dissertation in May 2020.

The research explored the use of InQuiry, a variation of Q-Methodology, as a formative assessment for Professional Development School Partnerships.

Born in Belize City in 1977, Dr. Wade completed primary, secondary and tertiary level education in Belize.

In 1994, she graduated from Pallotti High School and then earned her Associates degree St John’s Junior College in 1996.

Then in 2005, Dr. Wade earned a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education from the University of Belize and a Master’s Degree in Educational Measurement from The University of The West Indies in 2011.

She taught at Our Lady of Guadalupe Primary School from 1998 to 2006 and Sacred Heart College from 2006-2012. Then she moved on to the University of Belize where she was the Coordinator of Field Experience from 2012-2016 when she left to pursue her Doctorate in Education Leadership at the University of North Florida in 2016.

She has also been an adjunct professor at Galen University from 2014 to the present.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Wade told BBN that she “firmly believes learning is a lifelong process. Learning never stops therefore we must always strife for continued education whether it’s in the classroom or through life itself.”

Dr. Wade will officially be presented with her award at the Annual NAPDS Conference in March 2021.

Dr. Wade is the sister of the current Fisheries Administrator, Beverly Wade.
