By BBN Staff: On Tuesday, Pfizer said that it expects to sell about $15 billion in COVID-19 vaccines in 2021, CNBC reports.
Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine which is being developed with German counterpart, BioNTech, was the first approved for emergency use in the U.S.
“As a company, we saw the culmination of Pfizer’s decade-long conversion into a pure-play, science and innovation-focused company. Right away, our ability to move quickly and utilize cutting-edge science to help address the world’s most important medical challenges was put to the test by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in a press release.
Pfizer says that it hopes to deliver 200 million doses of its 2-shot vaccine to the U.S. by July 31.
The company also said that it was “prepared to respond” if a Covid variant demonstrates evidence of evading its vaccine.
In addition, the company is developing a booster shot to help protect against the new variants.
