Belize to join International Solar Alliance

Posted: Wednesday, February 3, 2021. 8:31 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Cabinet has approved for Belize to become a member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

The ISA is an intergovernmental organization that works to deepen cooperation on renewable energy, specifically solar energy.

The government noted that Belize would join the 84-member alliance and would benefit from funding, technology, and expertise to assist in the country’s ability to exploit its potential in solar energy, thereby, allowing for the production of cheaper and cleaner energy.

ISA’s plan draws ‘to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’.

ISA is trying to increase the share of renewable energy substantially by 2030.
