Forty percent of ambassadorial posts are women

By BBN Staff: At the cabinet meeting held on February 1, 2021, Prime Minister John Briceno informed of the appointment of 11 ambassadors who have been designated to fill bi-lateral and multi-lateral posts abroad.

The government says that the appointees represent a variety of new and experienced professionals.

Notably, 40 percent of the designates are women.

Belize’s women serving abroad are Ambassadors Cherie Nisbet, Candice Pitts, and Lou Anne Burns.

Ambassador Amalia Mai was also named Non-Resident Ambassador-Designate to the Central American Integration System (SICA).
