By BBN Staff: UNICEF Belize will hand over Early Childhood Development Play Kits on Thursday, February 4, from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. at the Bullet Tree Football Field in Cayo.
“UNICEF continues to support the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and affected communities of the flooding with an integrated emergency response,” UNICEF noted.
In December 2020, in collaboration with NEMO, 500 emergency hygiene/nutrition kits were distributed to 354 families in the Cayo District, impacting over 700 children.
On Thursday, an additional 200 emergency Early Childhood Development (ECD) play kits will be distributed to families with children from birth to 8 years old.
The families are from the communities of Calla Creek, Bullet Tree, Santa Familia and Billy White.
UNICEF notes that the kits will assist parents in keeping young children engaged to support early learning and development.
Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat and Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Development, Families & Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Gilroy Usher will receive the donations.
