By Aaron Humes: Belize has now had more than 12 thousand cases of COVID-19 – 12,008 to be precise – in just shy of 11 months since the first was reported on March 23, 2020.
Of those, 11,452 have recovered; 306 have died, and 250 are still active, with 305 reported as under investigation.
30 new cases were confirmed countrywide today, with 39 persons reported as recovered.
Males lead females in all categories of confirmed cases, active cases, recovered cases and deaths.
Today’s daily positivity rate is 3.5 percent of 868 tests done (856 persons were tested). Minister of Health Michel Chebat has said that the rate must remain below five percent for 28 days in order to consider the worst of the pandemic behind us.
12 persons remained hospitalized, with four of those in intensive care.
